Passion for God. Passion for People. This is our calling at Springbank Community Church. And so, during the planning of our own building expansion, we committed to building God's kingdom with a tithe on the donations given to our capital campaign. As part of this "Kingdom Development and Advancement" we feel called to respond to the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa. Mukono is our response.
The town of Mukono, Uganda is the site of Noah's Ark Children's Ministry Uganda (NACMU), a home for those orphaned or abandoned because of poverty, civil war, disease, and especially HIV/AIDS. Our goal is to assist them in their ministry to the children living at NACMU as well as the surrounding community.

Hungry for Life International is the organization which is facilitating the opportunities for SCC to serve NACMU. Our first trip to Mukono took place from Aug. 25 - Sept. 5, 2008. During that time, we were able to gain insight into how SCC can most effectively help in the work of NACMU. The decision was made that the greatest way we could support the work there would be, over the next three years, help in the building of a high school/vocational school, the need for which is fast approaching as the children become older.
The most recent trip to Mukono took place from Aug 31 to Sept 11, 2009. The team was involved in various forms of service to the children's home, and especially to the children who live there, as well as to some of the surrounding communities. In addition, the team members were involved with the medical clinic both at Noah's Ark and in the surrounding communities.
The Next trip to Mukono, Uganda is tentatively scheduled for August 22 - Sept 5, 2010. If you would like more information about the SCC Mukono project or about the upcoming trip please contact Ana Kerley at the church office at 403.242.3431 or akerley@springbankchurch.com
